Between The Trees – In Spring 2009 Tyler Landman went to font with no expectations, only goals. This video is the result of his journey through the magical forest, surpassing all of his goals and reaching new levels in his climbing. Check it out. Be inspired. Go climbing.
UPGRADED AND WORKING BETTER THAN EVER!

Roll up, roll up. If you’re looking for the best bouldering film (from Fontainebleau) of 2009 then you’ve come to the right place. Below you’ll find several options, so take your time to make sure you understand the differences. But before that, I want to explain something about how these two options are priced. No matter which option you go for, after transaction fees, production fees, postage fees, dvd costs, etc. I will end up with the same amount in my pocket (give or take 10p). To me it makes little difference which option you go for. However, there are other considerations. I went with a digipak case for the DVD option not because it’s the cheapest (far from it in fact) but because it looks the best and it uses far less plastic that traditional DVD cases, which in turn is a little better for the environment. So, if there is no price difference to me, why do people who get the DVD get a few extra bits and pieces? Well, this is my first exploration into the world of DVD production, and so personally it’s an interesting project, from which I’ve (as usual) learned a whole lot. The DVD run isn’t a big one, not by a long way, so the DVD is best thought of as a limited edition. I can’t promise that it will be worth 10 times it’s asking price in years to come, but I can guarantee you’ll have something nice on your shelf to remind you that you should visit the magic forest sooner rather than later, which is something that you can’t put a price on!
The Options;
Firstly, there is the physical DVD option, delivered straight to your home for your viewing please. By going with this option you’ll end up with a beautifully designed digipak case containing not only the full film, but also some little extras. There were a few problems that didn’t make the film along with a lot of Tyler’s thoughts/philosophy on climbing and other unrelated activities, along with some out takes. It makes for amusing viewing in my opinion. Postage will be available worldwide… there are no outposts of the globe that unclesomebody doesn’t want to reach. [This DVD will play in both the UK and USA]
The second option is a download only option. What you lose in tactility you make up for in availability. You’ll be missing out on the feeling of seeing your postman/woman walking to your door with an envelope which you’re sure contains Between The Trees. You’ll miss out on furiously opening the envelope, ramming the DVD into your system, and sitting back to enjoy the show. If you can live with that, then there are also some advantages. For a start, the download option is available in High Definition 720p. This is a big plus as the quality will be far superior to the DVD. But as with most things in life, there’s a price. If you have an old or slow computer, it’s likely that it won’t be able to play HD. If you’re unsure it would be wise to download this test file and see if it plays smoothly. If you’re choosing HD download option, I suggest you read the info on this page to avoid any potential issues.
And now there is a third option. Some people have emailed me asking if I will be offering a package deal on both the DVD and the download, and being such a gent I’ve decided to also make this available. If you’re the type of person who spends 15 minutes deciding between chocolate and vanilla, only to go back afterwards and get the other flavour, this is the option for you. You’ll get the DVD delivered to your home/office/board and you’ll also get to immediately download the HD version for watching on your computer/PS3/home media centre. You get the best of both worlds!
So now you know the difference, you just have to make your choice. Whatever you decide, I really hope you enjoy the film. If you have any issues, or don’t understand something, just get in touch with me and I’ll do my very best to help you out.
Please make sure you select the correct shipping option.
This is the high def 720p download version (ie. you won't be receiving a DVD!)
Price: £12.00
For those who can't decide between chocolate and vanilla!
Price: £17.00

does the HD Download also include the extras: the problems that didn’t make the film, Tyler’s thoughts/philosophy on climbing and other unrelated activities, and outtakes?
November 11th, 2009 at 11:09 am
Hi, The HD download is only the main film. The extras are DVD only I’m afraid.

I have emailed you an alternative method. There is always a solution!

Hey Kieth, great looking new DVD, kudos. Hope you don’t mind but I’ve pimped up your production on the Rock + Run Facebook page. I won’t spam your page with a link, but if you can’t find the post on FB, let me know and I’ll send you a link. Hope that’s cool.

Super easy transaction with PayPal. Sustained 2MB/s for the entire download (my max). All in all a fantastic purchase experience.
Now to watch it, very excited.

Just watched half of the movie while having breakfast… and i have to say that it’s pretty nice! love the humble approach of fontainebleau even you are crushing the classics! Even better playlist than in l’Etranger! Can’t wait to see the second half (now got to work) and to return to fontainebleau in a few weeks…

Hi,
I would like to know if your DVD can be read by North America’s DVD reader?
Lewis

DVD’s can be used in North America. In fact, they will likely work even better as the film was shot at 23.976fps!

Nice video – the only problem is that the camera view is too far away from the action (holds in different camera angles). I don’t feel beeing part of the game.

After seeing the trailer I had to have it. Added another bank account to paypal and had to wait an agonizing 24 hours before I could pay and download. It was brilliant. Although being a sub-sub-sub-moderate myself I enjoyed every minute. Every minute. Thanks a lot.

Nice film with lots of problems and enjoyable sound track. I enjoyed watching it and after that added another tv session with “L’etranger”… The inspirational vibes were strong – so I had a full bouldering session despite my ellbow injury. What can I say. Great! Keep up the good work and chin up: Gecko assis will fall, one season or another.

Alright! free candy inside the box!
Oh and great video by the way… I love the style. The intro is epic! The static camera put the emphasis on climbing. It is true that the distance of the shot makes us miss the action on some of the problems. But since there’s a high density of problems in this film, it’s still worth the price! Also the comments by Tyler Landman put us in the action.

Just wanted to say that the film is awesome! Totally inspired me to improve my climbing, and make that trip to Font this Autumn. Love the fact that you’ve captured the sense of humour and sense of community you get when climbing with good mates.
Sure you’ll crush Gecko Assis on your next visit!
