L’Étranger – download now.
Mesdames, Messieurs, bonjour! I’ve now uploaded the film so it’s available to download. One thing to be aware of is that only the HD version is live right now. This version should satisfy nearly everyone as most people who read this blog should have a fast internet connection. An SD version should be available within the forthcoming days so if you really can’t watch the HD version then please exert a little more patience.
Making this film has been a great learning curve in many areas. I’ve learned retrospectively about composing shots whilst climbing, I’ve learned a lot of editing and have certainly increased my knowledge about the power of video editing. I guess I’ve seen only the first 10% of the power available and am certainly keen to learn some more when I have the time. I don’t know what the next project will be, but I’m certain that there will be one this year.
I hope you enjoy the film, enjoy the forest, and feel at least a little inspired to go and enjoy the magic of Fontainebleau.
Runtime; 55 minutes. File Size; 1.9Gb
Final tech note; The film is encoded with x264 so if you find that you can’t play it you will need to download the x264 codec or watch it with a program like VLC. However, it is likely that you will already have an h.264/x.264 codec installed!
Please read the post below this before downloading (if you haven’t already!). Enjoy.

I’m just a random punter who found the film on ukbouldering, but I really enjoyed it.
Thanks!

Since moving to Australia and having limited availability of perfect forests with perfect (and sometimes very frustrating) boulders strewn throughout it this is a great reminder of what i once had available to me. Thank you. Your footage is a great tribute to the beauty of the area (especially the sunset/sky footage at the end).
sooooo, wheres the paypal address for donations? Quality stuff like this needs support. You’ve now got my email address, let me know.

a better way of distribution would be via torrent.
that way many people give small parts of the overall file and so speed would increase. right know i hav a downstream of only 160 -240kB/s

I’ve been climbing Font for years. Until now there hasn’t been a film that captures the beauty and magic of the area. You have also finally completed those routes we discussed – well done!

great film, even for a punter who’s not going to be pulling those big numbers down, it’s very inspirational. It’s become my new deadhanging background. Cheers Uncle, genius.

Nice movie dude!
One stupid thing : since Engliush isn’t my mothertongue I can’t understand properly what the voice in the intro says…do you have it written down somewhere maybe?

Wonderful tribute to the best bouldering place in the world ! i used to climb in Bleau (as we say in France) for years and this movie just show how it feels to play there.
As Ghisino said, some subtitles would be perfect (even only in english !) …
Cheers !

Thanks for that. I really enjoyed your film. I thought the music was spot on and the flow was very nice. One criticism: maybe a few less takes of failure on the hard problems. 3-4 failed attempts is enough to relate the difficulty. Congrats on completing your personal goals. I know it must feel good. I hope you continue to make films because you definitely have a knack for it. I look forward to seeing your next project. BTW, I found this through Momentum Video Magazine.

Awesome film, beautiful and inspiring. Congratulations on a ton of amazing ascents.

Cheers dude, really enjoyed the film, I feel all psyched up now and am gutted I’m not going to Font this year! The only constructive critisism I would add is the sound levels are a bit out, your music is way louder then the bits with you talking.
Keep cranking dude. Can’t wait for the next instalment.

Congratulations from a french climber and video-maker who is only terrible at both! I just checked out some of your recent videos but I have to admit I’m very impressed by the quality of “l’étranger”.
What kind of camera did you use and how can you display it over the Internet so perfectly?
Thanks for any type of answer and congratulations again, your film is impressive, and your climbing level is much better !!
